Centre for Creativity

New art, new artists, new audiences - Centre for Creativity

Our new Centre for Creativity has added to the cultural heartbeat of Wakefield and West Yorkshire. It is attracting talented new artists and enabling the very best in arts education. The glass frontage creates a dramatic statement, inviting people inside to enjoy a contemporary bar. Our new studio theatre allows you to experience comedy, music, drama, story-telling, puppetry and all sorts of new performances.

The new Centre for Creativity has provided a major extension to Theatre Royal Wakefield with direct public access from Westgate into the theatre’s foyer and stalls seating area. It provides increased hospitality facilities at night, which help to transform the audience’s journey through the theatre and allows artists to engage with audience members.

In addition to performances, The Walker Studio is regularly in use for the Theatre’s busy Learning & Participation programme. It is also used for rehearsals for our in-house productions and for artists to have dedicated time for creative research and development.

Theatre Royal Wakefield is grateful to all the donors on the Centre for Creativity who have helped us achieve our ambition.
