Passport to Theatre

Passport to Theatre tackles social isolation with supported Theatre visits; a special welcome, performance with refreshments, followed by a post-show discussion with the artistic team to close the evening. Theatre Royal Wakefield works with key community partners including Horbury Senior Citizens Group, Age UK, Sunshine & Showers support group, bereavement groups and self-management support groups.

Groups have been welcomed to the Theatre for popular shows such as Jesus Christ Superstar, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and our popular annual pantomime. Post-show discussions have featured our Artistic Director, John Godber, award-winning playwright Jim Cartwright, and a range of actors, from young people in training through to professional stage and screen actors.

Passport to Theatre is made possible through the support of a number of generous grants from trusts and foundations such as Yorkshire Health Charity and Creative Minds, and through the Passport to Theatre corporate supporter Minster Law.

A Passport to Theatre event for a group of 40 costs in the region of £1,000. The Theatre aims to hold 4-8 of these events each year.
