Mechanics’ Theatre, Wakefield College
Flowers for Algernon

The talented students of Wakefield College will once again collaborate with Theatre Royal Wakefield to bring you the Mechanics' Performing Arts Summer Season. Each year, students from across the performing arts and music department showcase their talents in a rip-roaring voyage of theatre, dance and music, at Mechanics’ Theatre, Theatre Royal Wakefield and various music venues within the city.

Charlie desperately wants to be able to read and write. He undergoes a brain operation which increases his intelligence. Yet such an operation begs many questions – can Charlie’s emotional development keep pace with the intellectual? How do the psychiatrist and psychologists view Charlie – as a man or as the subject of an experiment like the mouse, Algernon? And the biggest question of all – will the operation be successful?

Performed by Wakefield College Mechanics’ HND Theatre Students.

Produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.
