Theatre Royal Wakefield boasts an expansive history, dating back to 1776 when the first purpose-built Theatre in the Wakefield District was built on the site. In 1894 the current theatre was built and opened.

The History Tour is an opportunity to marvel at the historic features and imagine the audiences who came before you. Discover the Theatre’s hidden secrets and explore areas usually not open to the public.
