Our lovely theatre holds a special place in the hearts of many. None more so than members of our Wakefield Youth Music Theatre alumni, two of whom got engaged this weekend after a romantic proposal took place on our stage.
Jake Mitchell asked Daniel Jones to be his husband after the two met 16 years ago when they performed in shows together with Wakefield Youth Music Theatre - and of course he said yes!
Here's a throwback photo from 2009 when Jake and Daniel performed together in the Wakefield Youth Music Theatre production of Footloose.
They performed in six Wakefield Youth Music Theatre shows together (as well as others seperately) dating back to 2005.
Theatre Royal Wakefield was the perfect place to ask Daniel to marry me as it was where we first met 16 years ago. The building brought us together and it will always hold such special memories for the both of us. We both grew up doing shows there so it was an incredibly emotional experience for us.Jake Mitchell
