We are delighted to be a host organisation for the UK Boardroom Apprentice programme for the second year running.
The programme is a 12 month placement whereby those interested in serving on a not-for-profit board are given the chance to gain valuable experience and learning.
Applications for the programme are open to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, who have not held a board position before.
Our apprentice for 2022/23 was Chris Hyland who said:
'Theatre Royal Wakefield have been such a welcoming host board, and have massively enriched my Boardroom Apprentice experience. They took the time to really understand what I wanted to get out of the programme, and what I could offer. Checking in with my board buddy was very helpful, particularly for the first few meetings, and everyone else I have met, board members, staff and members, have been highly supportive. I've already gained my first look at how a real board operates in practice, the ability to better scrutinise financial reports and strategic plans, and a sense of the current opportunities and risks facing such organisations. I've also been able to get involved outside governance activities, and highlights include seeing a Performance Academy showcase and doing a day-long fundraising trek. I'm delighted that the theatre will be hosting another Boardroom Apprentice next year.'
The deadline for applications is Monday 9 October and you can apply via the UK Boardroom Apprentice Programme website.
As this is a national scheme, Theatre Royal Wakefield is not involved in the selection process so please do not send your applications to us.
