News Story
Theatre Royal Wakefield has been awarded funding from the second round of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund via Arts Council England. The fund was announced in October 2020 by Oliver Dowden and we are among more than 2,700 recipients to benefit from the latest round of awards.
This news is very welcomed and will help to ensure our long term survival, allow for an effective and safe re-opening and a gradual increase of activity.
We still need your help!
With so much that is still uncertain, we need your help to ensure we can continue our vital work in the Wakefield District. If you can help with a donation, no matter the amount, you will be securing the future of performing arts for everyone in our community.
'We are thankful to be able to announce that we have been awarded funding from the second round of the Culture Recovery Fund. This funding will ensure that training young people and participation projects with our local community continue, as they have since we have been closed for live performances. It will also enable us to continue the fantastic work that we have been doing behind the scenes and crucially it will allow us to plan for an effective and safe re-opening. We are hugely grateful to Arts Council England for this decision which demonstrates their faith in us as an organisation as well as the work that we do for everyone in the District'
Executive Director - Katie Town
The funding awarded is from a £400 million pot which was held back last year to ensure the Culture Recovery Fund could continue to help organisations in need as the public health picture changed. The funding has been awarded by Arts Council England, as well as Historic England and National Lottery Heritage Fund and the British Film Institute.
