We’ve loved the journey!
After 11 years our In on the Act (our Young Theatre Makers group for 18-30 year olds) is coming to the end of its’ journey. We are proud that the alumni of In on the Act have gone on to become teachers, theatre technicians, arts professionals and performers amongst other professions. The group has played an important role in developing confident, articulate, passionate people who work well as part of a team. Our Teacher’s a Troll was our last production.
The group started on 8th August 2012 and took its final bow over the weekend. In the 11 years the group has been running it has made 25 different shows (see below). As well as creating performances in our Walker Studio and Matcham Auditorium they have also made work for the Children’s Library, The Hepworth, and the National Coal Mining Museum amongst others.
Tina Shuker-Abell has been the group's leader throughout this 11 year journey and has shaped and pushed how the group has evolved including ensuring the group continued on zoom through Covid which we know provided a creative outlet. In on the Act reopened the Theatre as we returned from lock-down with House Lights Up in 2021.
We are delighted that some members of the group have moved from participant into professional work with us including facilitators in our Participation Team, Technical Assistants and our Communications and Programme Manager.
