Our In on the Act group loved performing at Wakefield Children’s Library on Monday, as part of this years’ Shakespeare Week. The group performed for 120 primary school students from Flanshaw Junior and Infant School and Lawefield Lane Primary School.
Shakespeare Week is a national annual celebration which aims to give primary school aged children an exciting and enriching first experience of Shakespeare. In on the Act’s performance was part of an exciting week of projects, challenges and online events and exhibitions across the country.
In the performance, our In on the Act group became Storm Chasers whose Stormatic readings were going crazy! The children helped them seek out, talk to and meet characters from Shakespeare plays to uncover their meaning and restore calm. The characters demonstrate the different ways Shakespeare used weather in his plays.
In on the Act is our training programme for 18 to 30-year-old theatre makers. The group meet for weekly sessions led by a professional director and facilitator, to create new theatre, enhance performance skills and perform scripted work. Through this performance, In on the Act developed their performance, devising and facilitation skills.
