We lead a busy Participation programme here at Theatre Royal Wakefield and use the performing arts as a gateway to enhance the lives of people across the Wakefield District. Through our projects, participants build and develop their self-confidence, self-esteem, aspirations and performance skills and talents.
We are passionate about and fully committed towards advocating inclusion and diversity in the arts. Through Chime, we provide exciting, dynamic and accessible weekly musical theatre training opportunities for young people with learning disabilities aged 12-25yrs living within in the Wakefield District. This week our brilliant delivery team took part in a fantastic training session led by Vicky Ackroyd and Josh from Totally Inclusive People.
Totally Inclusive People co-deliver sessions alongside Self-Advocates who bring their own experience of accessibility issues to share. We all found this bespoke training incredibly helpful and are feeling inspired to implement some new and exciting ideas so we can continue to support young people with learning disabilities, break down barriers and celebrate diversity.
