News Story
This week is #RememberACharityWeek, so we are raising awareness of supporting the Theatre through Legacy Giving. Many of our supporters aren’t aware of this form of giving, which will protect the Theatre and ensure the joy of live performance is spread to future generations.
Legacy Giving is including a gift in your Will to Theatre Royal Wakefield. No matter the size, remembering the Theatre in this way will make a lasting difference and help to provide creative experiences and opportunities across the Wakefield district for years to come.
Our Life President, Sir Rodney Walker, launched the campaign to re-open the Theatre in the 1980s and continues to support our work:

When I decided to launch the campaign to raise the funds to buy, refurbish & reopen the theatre back in 1986 I could never envisage that it could have achieved so much in the ensuing 36 years. Having established a charitable trust to own the Theatre it is fitting that it should now be the centre of an initiative to encourage people to continue their support to ensure the Theatre can continue its role at the centre of the arts in Wakefield.Sir Rodney Walker, Life President
As a charity, we can only continue staging exciting shows and engaging with local communities thanks to generous support from people like you. Our Theatre holds a special place in the hearts of many. By remembering the Theatre in this special way, you will pass on this gift to the next generation.

After joining the Theatre Royal Youth Theatre back in the 1980's I started a lifelong love of theatre and have worked in the industry ever since. Over the years, I've seen the value and importance of the Theatre’s work. Not only presenting and producing shows but also the outstanding work that's done behind the scenes for the people of Wakefield. Legacy giving is a fantastic opportunity to ensure that all of this great work that has played such an important in my life continues.Darren Johnson, Deputy Chair and Circle Member
