This Refugee Week we need your help...
Refugee Week is the world's largest arts and cultural festival and celebrates the contributions, creativity and resilience of people seeking sanctuary. This year's theme, 'Our Home', acts as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to create a safe and welcoming community that neighbours, old and new, can call home.
We are proud to be a Theatre of Sanctuary and a place of safety, welcome and creativity for refugees and people seeking asylum in Wakefield, as well as other groups within the local community. Our creative projects enable people to develop a sense of belonging, make friends, progress with English speaking skills and have an important role to pay in supporting mental health and wellbeing.
We are only able to continue these projects due to the generous donations that people like you make.
This Refugee Week help us to continue making our Theatre a home for those that need it most within the local community and donate now using the below link.
The impact your donations can have:
£5 could provide refreshments for Conversation Cafe, our weekly sessions that give asylum seekers and refugees in the local area access to a friendly space to meet new people and practice English over a cup of tea and a biscuit.
£10 could provide resources for Wakey Wakey, our Saturday-morning storytelling sessions that give asylum seekers and refugees with young children the opportunity to meet other local families.
£20 could enable a family to attend both our Conversation Cafe and Wakey Wakey sessions and empower them to feel welcome not just within the Theatre, but within our local community as a whole.
Thank you for your support of the Theatre.
