We're delighted to announce that we've been re-awarded Investing In Volunteers status for the second time, having been originally awarded the quality mark in 2021.
Investing In Volunteers status shows that we value our volunteers and demonstrates our commitment to volunteering within the organisation.
In the year 23/24 a total of 102 people volunteered their time with Theatre Royal Wakefield, undertaking a staggering 2050 shifts. It's not all about total numbers though, our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, disabilities and ethnicities. Over half of the volunteers are retired, whilst almost a quarter are working. There are also a significant number of people who regularly volunteer at the theatre with a learning disability.

Our volunteers really are at the heart of everything that we do. Without their contribution throughout the year, we wouldn't be able to function as a busy theatre serving the Wakefield District.

To me, being a volunteer at Theatre Royal Wakefield means giving something back and seeing the joy on peoples faces, especially the children. Theatre has always been a part of my life and I believe that everyone should have access to it.Joy, Front Of House Volunteer
