125th Anniversary
The Matcham Auditorium turns 125!

Our wonderful Matcham Auditorium celebrated its 125th Anniversary on 15 October 2019.
Built in 1894, Theatre Royal Wakefield, the jewel in Wakefield’s crown, was the design and vision of famous architect Frank Matcham. Since its conception, Matcham’s Theatre has been at the heart of the Wakefield community – no matter what its use – whether as a theatre, or cinema house, or Lucky Seven’s Bingo Hall!
To ensure Matcham’s Auditorium is around to be enjoyed for another 125 years, we are embarking on a campaign to secure the future of the auditorium! It is slightly run down and worse for wear, so every donation, however large or small, will be greatly received.
