The Matcham Auditorium turns 125!
Our wonderful Matcham Auditorium celebrated its 125th Anniversary on 15 October 2019.
Built in 1894, Theatre Royal Wakefield, the jewel in Wakefield’s crown, was the design and vision of famous architect Frank Matcham. Since its conception, Matcham’s Theatre has been at the heart of the Wakefield community – no matter what its use – whether as a theatre, or cinema house, or Lucky Seven’s Bingo Hall!
The campaign is well under way! With thanks to all of our wonderful supporters, seats in the Dress Circle and Stalls have been, and continue to be, updated. Every donation, however large or small, will be greatly received.
