We run general tours of our building at least once a year. Follow the performer’s journey from stage door to centre stage and experience the magic of standing in an iconic Frank Matcham auditorium!

History Tour

Theatre Royal Wakefield boasts an expansive history, dating back to 1776 when the first purpose-built Theatre in the Wakefield District was built on the site. Marvel at the historic features and imagine the audiences who came before you.

We’re happy to offer educational tours of our iconic Victorian theatre for schools, colleges and groups, during the day or in the evenings.
